Bord Bia launching eLearning module on AMR

This World Antimicrobial Awareness Week Bord Bia and the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine share their progress and plans.

Here, in the midst of a busy week of organisations presenting their work, we present three important items from DAFM and Bord Bia:

Ireland's National Action Plan on AMR required action and collaboration on a large scale. The detailed presentation here steps through the why, how, and what's next for the department and Irish agriculture sectors in the fight against AMR.

A short narrated animated video explaining AMR and the risk it poses on-farm is a clear and concise recap for anyone wishing to clarify the basics. This video is ideal to watch with younger family members as it is beautifully drawn, with a clear and relevant message for animal keepers of all sizes!

This video forms part of the new e-learning module on antibiotic usage on farms. Here we present a demo of the upcoming Bord Bia e-learning module which has been designed to support farmers and vets in reducing antibiotic usage on-farm.

Understanding our power as an individual is a central issue in the drive to reduce antimicrobial resistance, a health issue which affects animals and humans. This module walks farmers through the 6 Rs of antibiotic usage, and takes about 25 minutes to complete. This is an informative and supportive look at a complex and important topic. The completed module will support the new Sustainable Pig Assurance Standard due for release in the 1st quarter of 2021.

The Module will be rolled out to other sectors during 2021.
